Drink Driving. Who Is Irresponsible?
This ad is outdated, outrageous and out of context!
This government public service announcement about drink driving only takes into account the driver's perspective and responsibility. However, ALL parties are responsible. In this frequently-played ad (which dates back to the 1990s), the driver's wife and his friends all know the driver is drinking ... so why don't they act like responsible adults and take action?
If you know your lover, relative or friend has been drinking, what do you do? In the ad, the wife knowingly and stupidly gets into the car with a drunk driver! And subsequently she get killed in a car accident. Real smart!
The INTENDED message is targetted at the irresponsible driver (scare tactics?), but the REAL message coming through is that the wife died because she was irresponsible and STUPID to get in a car with a drunk driver! Please use common sense.
This ad is titled "If you drink, don't drive!" but it downplays everyone else's responsibility ... including the government departments and broadcasters (who are too lazy to update their drink-driving prevention campaigns).

Caution At Macau Racing
Visited the Macau karting track over the holidays and, along with many others, was disappointed to be turned away. The reason? It had begun to rain lightly. This was on 28 December 2017, which remained sunny, bright and breezy despite the minute sprinkling of rain at around 1415hrs.
Although many people tried to reason with them, the government-employed staff stuck stubbornly to the fact that they had seen some rain droplets and therefore closed the track. This is obviously no way to run a business ... but it is typical of how government staff run things ... be safe, be conservative and be sure there are no ways to endanger their "precious" jobs.
The absurdity is that before anyone can go on the track, waiver forms have to be signed anyway so that there are no liability issues in the first place. Visitors race at their own peril, and everyone present that day knew that a little rain should not be an excuse to prevent them from racing.
Thanks to the staff at Coloane Karting Track for ruining everyone's afternoon of what should have been a fun day at the races !!

Audi Executives Fail Spectacularly with A5
When the Audi A5 was created, designer Walter de Silva described it as "the most beautiful car I have ever designed".
Be that as it may, the song “Pure Imagination” used in the Audi A5 car advert is the same creepy, terrifying and sinister tune that was in the 1971 children’s movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

The dark, sinister undertone of the movie, where children are killed off by the maniacal and sociopathic Willy Wonka, is reflected by the haunting song Pure Imagination.

Why Audi executives—who are similarly aged with their prime demographic of middle-aged customers to remember actor Gene Wilder—would choose such a deranged song that most probably triggers unpleasant childhood memories in that generation is beyond comprehension.
Audi has failed spectacularly by simply thinking that the name of the song Pure Imagination is all that is needed to inspire their customers. Songs, like names, have historical and social meanings ... and this song in particular haunts some people and gives many the chills (or willies)!
The company could, and should, have used a more upbeat, positive, awe-inspiring song to reflect the new creative design of the Audi A5. Opportunity missed!
